Introducing Gas Safe Register
Gas Safe Register is the official body of gas engineers in the United Kingdom. Engineers employed by all the major suppliers such as E.on energy. By law, all engineers who work with gas have to be Gas Safe registered. Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI as the gas registration body in 2009. Its main focus is to improve gas safety, and to maintain high gas safety standards across the United Kingdom.
If you are having any gas work performed in your home, it is absolutely crucial that you ensure the persons involved are Gas Safe registered. You can check if an engineer is registered online, at https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/find-an-engineer/, or you can call Gas Safe Register to check. Or, if you would rather email Gas Safe Register, the address is [email protected]
If you have a gas-heated appliance installed in your home, it is compulsory that you receive a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate; this document informs the local authority of the new appliance. You should receive this within 28 days of the installation. However, please note that the documentation an engineer leaves after fitting an appliance depends on the nature of the work carried out. In addition to this, the only documentation required by law is a Landlord Gas Safety Record. If you are renting a property, you have a right to this document.
